“Westenwind”

With a capacity up to 33 guests, the Westenwind is a 24,5 meter Dutch Klipper, typical from the rivers of The Netherlands. It’s a flat-bottom sailing boat that uses sideboards to avoid drifting. The Westenwind dates from 1910 and was brought to Portugal in 2014. The owners bought the boat in 2013 in Enkhuizen (NL) and sailed it down to Portugal through the French canals (passing over 275 locks) and further along the Mediterranean Sea and then along the Spanish and Portuguese coast, up to Lisbon.

Contrary to the Leão Holandês (our bigger boat), the services on the Westenwind are self-service and it’s a more pro-active boat — welcoming more interaction with our guests (helping with preparation, raising and manoeuvring the sails, raising and hoisting the sideboards and the navigation itself. Also the Westenwind will only sail on the river Tagus in Lisbon.

To keep costs as low as possible, drinks and food are made available inside the lounge area, where clients are welcome to serve themselves. There is a host on board (also assisting the skipper and sailing crew) who will make sure all is running smoothly. We can also serve some drinks on deck, inside proper ice buckets.
