The Leão Holandês was built in 1910 as a 2-Mast Schooner, in the Northern Dutch town of Groningen. The first skipper – German – used her as a freighter, transporting wood between Scandinavia and Germany. In 1923, the Amalie, as she was first christened, was sawn in two parts at the wharf in Kiel, Germany. The procedure added six meters, one extra mast and a 60 hp engine to the schooner.
Westenwind
With a capacity up to 33 pax, the Westenwind is a 24 meter Dutch Klipper, typical from the rivers of The Netherlands. It’s a flat-bottom sailing boat that uses sideboards to avoid drifting. The Westenwind dates from 1910 and came to Portugal in 2014 as the owners bought the boat in 2013 in Enkhuizen (NL), sailed it down to Portugal through France (passing over 275 locks) and further on sea along the Spanish and Portuguese coast.
